Well in this excellent video of gavin harrison, you can see how a drum set looks like and also if you pay atention you can see alot of cables arround the set and a lot of microphones, well if you wonder why is because every single part of a drum set in a live performance like this has to go with amplification.
There also are many other things you cant see such ass Drum Triggers and a lot of mixers, and thats how techonolgy affect a drum set !
